The crisis is graphically illustrated in today’s report from Comhairle, a national umbrella group for citizen action organisations.

In the past year it has received 470,000 queries about the rights, entitlements and problems facing voluntary carers, many of whom are in poor health due to the physical and emotional effects of providing long-term, high-level care.
