Shannon plan shows imagination

Shannon Development’s forthcoming announcement of plans to turn Shannon Airport into a major air cargo terminal should be welcomed as timely and imaginative.

It is expected to generate 15,000 jobs locally and much more in the hinterland.

The Atlantic Arc project is designed to turn the airport into a major air cargo hub, and thus stimulate the economy of the region by generating significant growth in trade, with exports from the Shannon free zone expected to double by the time the project is completed in 2020.
