Chernobyl Heart – Take a bow Adi, you deserve it

IF ever an Oscar was fully deserved it was the uplifting story of the documentary film, Chernobyl Heart.

As a tribute to the tireless work and remarkable achievements of one citizen, it represents a celebration of the vision of Adi Roche.

It goes without saying that in charting the activities of the Cork-based project, the documentary is also a fitting tribute to countless others who have been immersed in the astonishing Chernobyl saga down the years. But there can be no gainsaying the fact that the immense achievements are largely due to the single-minded passion and unquenchable courage of one woman in the face of enormous odds.

Nobody who heard her ecstatic reaction could ever doubt the unselfish commitment of her role in bringing a ray of hope to the lives of blighted children. Thanks to the Oscar, the heart-rending story of their experience in the aftermath of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster will now reach a global audience.
