Dr Ronan Glynn: Vaccine gives many reasons to hope but we're not through this yet

As we face into Christmas and the New Year, there are many reasons for hope, not least of which has been our demonstrated solidarity and willingness to listen to public health advice and thereby protect ourselves and others.

Ireland is on the cusp of deploying at least two Covid-19 vaccines as part of a national vaccination programme.

2020 has been an incredibly difficult year for everyone. 

But this has also been a year of very significant medical and scientific achievement in which a new illness has been characterised, its genome sequenced, and diagnostics and treatments have been developed.
