Constituency profile: Dublin Central

Dublin Central has changed from a four-seater to a three-seat constituency since 2011 and with four prominent sitting TDs, not to mention a number of high-profile candidates hoping to be elected, the race to the Dáil will certainly be interesting.

The constituency has seen significant boundary changes since the last election with chunks of the Navan Road, Drumcondra, and Glasnevin all removed.

This loss of more than 13,000 votes from the western side of the constituency is likely to impact particularly on sitting TD and Transport Minister Paschal Donohoe, whose traditional Fine Gael vote came from these settled middle-class areas.
