Jailing consultant surgeon Dr Emad Massoud for four years yesterday for defrauding almost €750,000 from insurance companies through a false breast cancer claim, Judge McCartan said it was “a particularly evil and nasty offence”.

Dr Massoud, aged 52, of Woodview, Brownstown, Ratoath, Co Meath, and his wife, Gehan Massoud, aged 45, a nurse, were convicted by a jury last month following a three-week trial.
