THE rescue of four rowers facing death in a hurricane-thrashed ocean is an action movie tugging at its mooring and just waiting for the tide to come in. It has all the ingredients of box-office success.

Four all-round good guys on a heart-warming mission; endeavour; brotherliness; danger; tension; terror; lots of cool, clean heroes; a banana boat (for a touch of humour) and, most importantly, a happy ending.

In fact, all that’s missing from this remarkable epic adventure off the Irish coast is, well, the Irish.
