Fergus Finlay: Now's the time for RTÉ to start over and win back some respect

RTÉ director general Kevin Bakhurst. The DG should be instructed to publish immediately the basis of calculation for anyone who got an exit package from RTÉ that was over and above normal retirement or redundancy terms.

Oh God. This is the thing I’m most afraid of. I’m going to have to disagree with Terry Prone, of all people. And I’ve already had a tough couple of weeks. You don’t know this I hope, but I’m now established on social media as a mansplainer and a spreader of lies and disinformation. And all because of my support, here and on the radio, for removing misogynistic, outdated and offensive language about women from the constitution.

To make matters worse, it’s been women who are having a go at me. They don’t seem to be a very large group of women, but my goodness they’re tight-knit and speak with one voice. The minute any of them calls me dim-witted or confused on X (Twitter), 90 more chime in immediately. Getting hit on the head 90 times stings more than getting hit on the head once, I can tell you.
