Jennifer Horgan: How meeting a medium went a long way to lifting my spirits

'Worst case scenario, Rose O’Driscoll picked up on clues in the room. She got lucky. She is a master manipulator and told me what she sensed I needed to hear. But I felt good when she left, relieved.'
A few months back, somebody suggested I write a column about visiting a medium. I liked the idea straight away, mostly because I’d never have come up with it myself.
I’d characterise myself as being both sceptical and open-minded. Like a lot of people my age, I am not religious. When I lost faith in the church, I probably let go of the spiritual stuff too; but I’ve always left something ajar in myself, something not entirely closed to that vanishing crack of magic or light.
