Renua can be proud it was not a populist party

Juno McEnroe’s article (March 31, “Renua knew the battle was lost six months before the election”) with Renua’s John Drennan, former head of strategy and communications, highlighted how challenging it can be to set up a party with little or no funding.

While Renua ended up with no TDs, it can be proud of the fact that it was not a self serving populist party over promising to electorate for political gain, it was actually serious about wanting to be part of a future government if the numbers allowed it to be.

All is not lost, but Renua has to convince the electorate that it is not a party just for the rich but a party for all those who want open, honest government and polices that reward work, support small businesses across the country, and deliver good public services.
