Reading the newspapers, looking at TV and listening to radio at the present time brings us back to the days of the Celtic Tiger when the all-in-the-garden-is-rosy message was being proclaimed.

First we have commentators cheerleading the return to power of those who sat around the cabinet table in the good old Celtic Tiger days when decisions were made which contributed to the bankrupting of the country.

Secondly we have complaints about ‘vulture funds’ buying up property. There is no mention that ‘vulture funds’ would not be in a position of such market power but for the fact that the reckless decisions of a small number of this country’s own most powerful citizens in charge of its financial institutions during the Celtic Tiger era had also contributed to our bankruptcy.
