Old people are seeing their way of life attacked

Old age should be a time of pleasure and contentment. It should be a stage in life when one can enjoy one’s later years with family and friends.
Old people are seeing their way of life attacked

The right to love, shop and go visiting are privileges with which all citizens are entitled. But with slowing physical reflexes and their trusting nature, the aged are being increasingly exploited by con-men and women, robbers and thieves and wolves in sheep’s clothing. By way of security measures Muintir na Tíre, ICA, IFA and Red Cross have all helped greatly in this regard. The Garda Siochana too is determined to provide maximum protection for the elderly.

But government policies have created a great deal of unnecessary fear and anxiety for families in rural areas. The closure of garda stations, post offices, schools, shops, the country pub – now almost extinct, medical centres, curtailment in rural bus-services, social and community services and the application of stringent planning regulations is to be deplored. All the simple things of life that brought joy, peace, happiness and contentment have been abandoned by our bureaucrats.
