Developers have a free run in this country
So says Michael Clifford.
So much for the ethical moral code of erstwhile Irish developers.
In this article, Michael Clifford outlines the crass realities pertaining to âfly-by-nightâ developers, their accomplices, and the statutory apparatus which affords them âlight-touchâ monitoring.
As he succinctly points out, âthe law is an ass-covering scheme for dodgy developersâ.
Developers amass their fortunes via all means âfair and not-so-fairâ.
The sneaking regard for them among their own cocooned ilk is so far removed from the contempt that the average citizen holds towards them that one would think they might (at least occasionally) pause to ponder the plight of homeowners.
Not a bit of it. That would be against their sworn allegiances to the (un)holy grail of âdevelophoodâ aka âwho cares about citizens... letâs make as much money as we can and scarper to the labyrinthine shelter of Nama, Isle of Man, Switzerland or even the UK if you fancy a quick bankruptcyâ.
But theyâre only doing it all for the good of the nation? Nothing to do with their petty power plays. Isnât that right ?
