I would like to thank President Michael D Higgins for highlighting the lack of social housing being built by city and county councils and how they should be ashamed of their inaction.

Please explain why money was spent on cycle paths and not homes

However the President failed to point out the projects they have achieved: Looking out for our health, the councils built cycle and walking paths along side by-passes, where we can exercise while breathing in the outpourings of lorries and cars.

They also gave us unnecessary roundabout makeovers, which further drained our coffers.
