Fishermen need Government support

While I welcome the bailout of €500m for farmers, what about our fishing industry, which is in slow decline and does not have a level playing field, because of foreign boats?

What about our Government protecting our fishermen?

Why are they not doing anything to deal with the manipulation of quotas, by which other member states profit from Irish fishing waters, while our own fleet is prevented from fair competition?

This is a major threat to the future of our fishing industry.

This government promised, in its marine plan, to harness our ocean wealth for Irish fishermen, but this is not happening.
