 How inspiring to read of the heroic actions of the three young Americans, Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler, on a train in France (Irish Examiner, August 21). By overpowering a heavily armed Islamist gunman they saved many lives.

However, given that Spencer and Alek are both serving members of the US armed forces, I wonder how long it will take Amnesty International or some other self-appointed human rights group, to start complaining that the brave lads used “excessive force” ?

Or, that they failed to protect the gunman’s right to privacy by not preventing the other passengers from filming his capture?
