Remains of Manchester Martyrs can’t be found

Noel Harrington (Irish Examiner, Letters, August 18) commendably calls for the return to Ireland of the remains of the Manchester Martyrs executed in 1867.

Remains of Manchester Martyrs can’t be found

Alas it appears impossible.

During his term as Taoiseach, Bertie Ahern, if I recall correctly, sought to bring home the martyr’s remains.

Further investigation however indicated that no remains could be located.
