Fergus Finlay asks the question as to why young people have to compete for the limited places in third level and implies that there is another way (Irish Examiner, August 18).

There can only be but competition for 3rd level

With limited resources there is always going to be competition. To imply otherwise is to mislead and not least, those competing for places.
