I noticed that the trees at the corner of Merrion Square, which blocked the view of the sculpture of Oscar Wilde, have just been cleared.

Oscar can now be clearly seen by all passers-by, as he reclines on a rock across the road from No 1, Merrion Square, where he lived as a child.

With the cutting of the trees, this tribute to Oscar has emerged from the shadows and this seems symbolic in the weeks following the landmark ‘yes’ vote for equality in the same-sex marriage referendum.
