Wasteful dumping of fish

Between them, the six EU countries will reduce the wasteful dumping at sea of miillions of tonnes of perfectly good fish. The unanimous agreement by the north-western water groups, chaired by Ireland, and including Belgium, France, Spain, the UK and the Netherlands, was the first step for a total ban on wasteful discards by 2019 and should kick in by January, 2016.
This covers all the waters around Ireland, and the channel, and provides for discards of prawns, whiting and haddock in the Irish Sea.
