Joint EU army to challenge Russia is rather pointless

To propose a joint European army to challenge Russia’s “aggression”, is counter productive to promoting peace in Europe. Russia is an integral part of Europe and one needs to remember that Russia took the brunt of Nazi Germany in WW2, and lost over 20 million of its citizens in that endeavour.

Joint EU army to challenge Russia is rather pointless

To contain NATO’s aggressive expansion in Eastern Europe and its interference in Ukraine is essential for peace in Europe. Kiev needs to maintain its role as a buffer zone if it wants to survive and stop the war there, so says Prof John Mearsheimer, author and political scientist. He reminds us of the 1950’s folly of putting NATO missiles in Turkey pointed at Russia and the consequential missile crisis over Cuba.

The US also needs the support and co-operation of Russia in its dealings with Iran, Afghanistan, Syria and China.
