Government targeting private-sector pensions

The Government is now targetting the one million workers who, so far, have avoided the ravages of the pensions industry.

Current private-sector pensioners have been subjected to savage losses in their retirement income, because of the lack of any Government protection. Surely, this matter needs to be addressed, before subjecting more workers to the same abuse.

Why is the Government failing to transpose the 1982 EU Pensions Protection Directive into Irish law? The EU should be asked why it has failed to enforce this directive.
