Paris attacks offends my sensiblity as a citizen of a western democracy

If a certain type of Muslim is offended by a cartoon then no one is forcing them to look at it and if a picture of someone crying because innocent people were slaughtered in his name, then it is the moral duty of media to publish the front page of Hebdo on its front page.

Paris attacks offends my sensiblity as a citizen of a western democracy

In Ireland in 2015, we have now allowed a situation where a self-appointed Muslim censor has taken it upon himself to issue threats about the consequences we will face if the media publishes cartoons. And of course there is silence from a lily livered bland political class.

Enda Kenny and Frances FitzGerald can’t even get nuns to pay for abuse and hand over files so it’s hard to imagine how they’ll deal with Muslim extremism.

Firstly, there is nothing in the Koran at all that forbids images of Mohammed. You only need to do a quick internet search to find that out and to see a range of images of Mohammed in all religious contexts including Islam.

Secondly, it is one thing for a certain type of

Muslim to genuinely believe such cartoons are are offensive but it is quite another to pander to such delusion.

No one has the right to tell me what I can read, watch or listen to and it is my duty as citizen of a western liberal democracy to challenge the element within Muslim society who would seek to put limits on my freedoms.
