Ireland should be proud of its 1983 amendment

Resulting from Christmas week’s sad case, a number of commentators have attempted to use this tragedy to bad-mouth those who dared to vote yes to the pro-life amendment in 1983.

Ireland should be proud of its 1983 amendment

Thanks largely to that amendment, Ireland has one of the lowest infant/maternal mortality rates in the world. Our rates are way superior to both the US and UK, where abortion on demand has corrupted the entire medical profession.

Unfortunately, we will continue to have court cases like that which arose in recent weeks. Thankfully they are relatively rare. But the evidence from other jurisdictions surely proves that the answer to same is most definitely not the legalisation of abortion. Many would argue that last years legislation is already a step too far.
