I think it’s great that the United States is starting to thaw relations with the last country from the Cold War, Cuba.

It has been a long strange journey since the late 1950s. Since Fidel Castro and his brother Raúl have ruled Cuba, there have been 11 US Presidents.

I grew up in America and spent the early 1960s as a young kid, living in fear of the missiles supplied by Russia that were only 90 miles from the US. During the Cuban crisis instead of looking at buying a new family car, our family was looking at buying an underground bomb shelter. There was fear that the end was near.
