Sums don’t add up in Irish Water pay plans

1. I don’t understand the waste of time about the PPS numbers and Irish Water. Wouldn’t it have been simple to build into the application contract a part which says “in the event of privatisation, PPS numbers will not form part of any sale”?

2. What is the big deal about post code numbers? Everyone can find 22 Kildare St, Dublin even without a GPS.

3. Why are we setting up quangos to find out how this and that works in different countries? Haven’t we MEPs who might have a chat with Angela or Jean Claude and let them tell us what works and what doesn’t work?

4. But what I really don’t understand is this: If we charge households €160 for water, then the person on €20k will be paying far, far more of their take-home pay than the person on €100k and far, far, far more than the person on €200k. Also, if an increase in pay is given, it is usually a percentage, so the lower paid get a lot less than the higher paid.
