Maíria needs help to heal

As the Northern Ireland Secretary, Theresa Villiers, is not keen to have the Kincora Boys’ Home abuses aired in the media, because of “sensitivity”, would the self-appointed social workers in Dáil Eireann step in?

Maíria needs help to heal

I am sad that the political parties did not refer Maíria Cahill to professionals in the HSE or the Gardaí. She is obviously hurt and the last place she should go to is a politician. It is a disgrace that politicians have given her false hope and no professional help. Healing is a long process.

Taoiseach Enda Kenny owes to the survivors of abuses free professional help for as long as it takes. They are angry and rightly so. It is our society that should help those survivors, in a professional way.
