Irish Water has to examined by PAC

At present Irish Water does not come within the remit of the cross-party Oireachtas Public Accounts Committee (PAC) which, as things stand, is our most tangible and important link between the people and democratic governance.

As it has become apparent that incompetence, cronyism, jobs for the boys, and lack of transparency is still the order of the day at government level, it is vital the remit of the PAC be broadened to include Irish Water.

Failure to vet this industry properly, on behalf of the people, will lead to a monstrous drain on public funds putting other services under pressure and will lead to 20 or 30 years of controversy and frustration.

I must point out that this writer is not a member of, or attached to, in any way, a political party.

I exercise my vote at every election and vote based on performance,
