Why we need honest and robust politicians

It is said that we get the politicians we deserve.

At this moment, more than ever, we need good public representatives, people who will question established systems and practices robustly.

In recent years virtually all established pillars of society have been found wanting; bankers, establishment politicians, lawyers, doctors, teachers, coaches, the clergy, Rome itself, civil servants and government departments, even the judiciary, and now the Gardaí and Department of Justice. We need honest, robust politicians who will question systems, practices and governance. They must ask two very important questions, “Why” and “Why not” at every turn. Non-party Independents have an established record in doing that. Vote wisely on Friday, May 23, but do vote.
