Flood barrier needed

Having viewed the scenes of devastation from the storms that have battered our country over this winter.

Our thoughts must go out to those who have suffered from these events and the despair they must feel. With regard to the Greater Cork area, is it not time to put in place a flood defence that will permanently alleviate the threat of being washed out for the future.

The only type of defence that will do this job is a Thames-style flood barrier placed at the mouth of Cork Harbour.
