Banking on machines

Has anyone else noticed that AIB branches have replaced customer service points with machines?

Banking on machines

The Douglas, Cork branch now has just two Bureau De Change desks to cope with day-to-day banking.

On my first encounter I attempted to lodge a cheque using the machines. However, it was rejected, so back to the queue for me — time saved none, time wasted plenty. While I do most of my banking online I needed to get a bank draft. What a fiasco that turned out to be. These were the only two customer desks operating and the queue was long and slow. In order to fund the cheque I needed to transfer funds from a savings account to a current one, I was informed that it was not possible for the clerk to do this.
