EU awareness - Ignorance on vote change

A Red C poll published yesterday reveals a worrying lack of public awareness here of changes in how decisions that affect us all are being made at EU level.

The poll, commissioned for the People’s Movement in Ireland by the EU Democrats, a Brussels-based pan-EU political organisation, shows that most Irish citizens are ignorant of forthcoming fundamental changes to the voting system in the EU Council of Ministers under the Lisbon Treaty.

From today, Ireland will see its vote more than halved to less than 1% while Germany will see its vote doubled to 16%.

Will that mean that the real EU capital will no longer be Brussels but Berlin?

Perish the thought.
