Noise of alarms prove an ongoing nuisance

I live in the city centre and I have noticed that false alarms occur daily.

Noise of alarms prove an ongoing nuisance

I would go as far as to say that on average everyday alarms go off for around 15 minutes. Some days I’d say they go off cumulatively for over an hour. I don’t know the exact figures, but they go off a lot.

I have called the gardai about it, contacted security firms, etc, and apparently alarms can go off for up to 20 minutes at a time.

Now the security company would contact the person responsible for that building and notify them that the alarm has been triggered. The owner is not responsible for making sure the alarm doesn’t go off again. And the security company is also not responsible. So what can happen is an alarm can go off repeatedly at set intervals and no one is responsible for turning it off.

Security alarms are designed to trigger a stress response. I have lived in a few countries and I have never noticed this before. This is especially strange as Ireland has a very low crime rate. Don’t forget that alarms pollute the environment, cause stress, and disturb sleep.
