Female Irish cardinal

Caroline O’Doherty reports (Irish Examiner, Nov 4) on the possibility of at least one Irish woman being named by Pope Francis at the Consistory in Rome.

Having a ‘lady in red’ from Ireland in the College of Cardinals is not before its time. It also raises the possibility of an Irish Pope Brigid.

Now, that would bring the Catholic Church into the 21st Century with a bang.
