Follow Rotavirus immunisation lead

Victoria White (Opinion, Oct 16) highlights gastroenteritis as the cause of 50% of GP visits by children aged under six in Australia and repeats the correct statement that breast-fed babies are four times less likely to suffer from it.

However, if the Government was serious about improving the health of children in that age group, and reducing GP visits, they should follow the UK example and bring in Rotavirus immunisation.

This is a proven way of improving health for small children and can be accurately costed, but the Government ignore it.
