It is typical of the incompetence of the Irish media that the trivial in political life gets blanket coverage, while the important is ignored.

The ‘caveman’ remark by Pat Rabbitte was stupid, but it will not bankrupt the country. At the same time, the fact that the country was heading for bankruptcy got no mention.
