Not believing what you see about the Fab Four

If you think revisionism is the sole preserve of new West Brits gone soft with money, think again.

Not believing what you see about the Fab Four

For everyone — who for worthy or at least excusable reasons, find themselves on the wrong side of history — are now apt to deny everything. In present context, step forward Gael Linn, in hand with TG4.

The famous newsreel footage of “The Beatles” first and only concert in Dublin was recently screened, minus the segment that more or less expressed the hope and the expectation that Ireland and the world had seen the last of the Fab Four. Indeed, the manner in which the edited newsreel item was screened seemed to suggest that Gael Linn never had a bad word to say about the toppermost of the poppermosts.

The price of liberty is also subject to inflation, such that now, it is no longer enough not to believe what you read, but even more essential, not to believe what you see.
