Column on the treatment of women was very important

I write to congratulate Colette Brown (Opinion, Jun 18) on her timely and important article on the treatment of women.

Perhaps our universities, and especially our distinguished women academics, can give a lead on this matter. It is another case of cleansing the Augean stables. Such disrespect for women is at the heart of the slavery of the Magdalene Laundries.
