We must make a stand against, not divide
Is it not time for all of us, be you man or woman, god-fearing or atheist, public servant, unemployed, private sector, self-employed, farmer or pensioner, to unite as Irish citizens?
Why are we fighting between ourselves? Our politicians, unions and other representative bodies have fallen into the same trap. The abortion debate is only the latest division. Are we being duped?
Is it not time that a message was delivered loud and clear that you and your neighbours and friends are no longer prepared to accept the condescension of āmaith an buachaillā from our unelected EU dictators whilst faceless German, French and other bailed-out bondholders quaff champagne with our money.
A retired Irish pensioner lost his entire pension in Anglo Irish Banksā overnight liquidation. Our Government said āso what?ā Yerra, let him have cake instead, I guess. More Dom Perignon for Franc the bondholder, though.
The time has long since come when we need to collectively shout āStopā.
Maybe, a national rally where Una the nurse gets a lift to Dublin with her neighbour Donal the vet and Mike the unemployed builder, will remind us that we are on the same side.
Do we care enough about what our kids will say? Can we look them in the eyes in years to come?
