City shops miss out as visitor opts for suburbs

I drove to Cork early last Sunday morning to do my Christmas shopping for my children, grandchildren, and relations.

I went to park my car in Cornmarket Street where there were plenty of spaces, and was just getting out of my car when a man selling Christmas trees nearby informed me that the council had just given out parking tickets to about ten cars either side of me.

He told me if I parked there they would be back again and I would definitely be issued with a ticket.
