Ireland shouldn’t be pushed around any more
Austerity is a flop. The bondholders are now known for what they are: the German banks. When one and a half million Irish households have €100 at the end of the month, there isn’t much more to squeeze out of the population.
Tell Europe “We are leaving because we’re not getting a break.”. They will change their outlook in a hurry. They are mad to preserve the euro concept.
We will be threatened with trade restrictions and anything else they can conjure up to intimidate our leaders. But, like Iceland, we will prosper by going on our own and returning to the punt.
We can devalue our way out of debt and keep our favourable foreign corporate tax rate which Angela is now attacking in return for what? “We think you’re great — keep doing it.”
Let’s get out of this mess. The worst that can happen by asserting this as a strategy is that they will panic and give us what we want to keep us from bringing down the house of cards.
Ireland is strong and beautiful and we shouldn’t be pushed around by anyone anymore.
