Feminism not always fair or equal to men

Despite what Anna Karin Kingston, (Letters, October 17), may claim, feminists cannot be depended on to help men.

Feminism not always fair or equal to men

There are many strands within feminism but the common factor is that it’s an ideology based on trying to help women.

It may be able to claim initiatives or changes which might help males, but at other times, it can cause disadvantages to men. For example, in future elections, individual men will very likely be discriminated against due to gender quotas for candidate selection. Similar quotas may soon be introduced by the EU for boardrooms.

In the past, men enjoyed advantages in some spheres — but so did women in others. Feminism has fought to bring about (a form of) equality in the former domains, but largely remained silent on the latter areas.
