I empathise with your columnist Victoria White, (Opinion, Sept 13,) especially on the matter of keeping silent on the subject of child abuse.

Being betrayed as a child leaves a lifelong feeling of disgust

This is especially true In my case looking back to the 1950s when nobody would listen to you, not to mind believe such a thing could happen.

It took years for me to speak out on the fabric of abuse in one of the most elite secondary boarding schools in Munster.
