One rule for the boys in Leinster House

With all the upset caused by Clare County Council’s plan to withhold grants for college students whose parents did not pay the household charge, we can rest assure the Government have the right answer.

During the week Education Minister Ruairi Quinn insisted the council’s policy was acceptable and in the same breath said “to get additional taxpayers money when you haven’t paid a legally due tax I think it is a reasonable question to ask”.

Maybe Mr Quinn would pass the same comment to fellow TD Mick Wallace who hasn’t paid his taxes to Revenue and is still allowed to function as a elected representative and claim all the allowances paid for by the taxpayer.
