Rogue nations

I refer to Kyran Fitzgerald’s article on banking scandals (Jul 28), wherein he glibly refers to Iran as a “rogue nation”.

He must be aware that Iran has not gone to war against another nation, in sharp contrast to America, which has been interfering in Iran’s affairs since funding the overthrow of a legitimate leader in 1953 and installing a dictator.

The bastion of Western democracy has caused the unnecessary deaths of 500,000 Vietnamese civilians and over 1.4m in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Perhaps your readers might have a less populist perspective on what constitutes a “rogue nation”.
