Second arrest after Paul ‘Bosco’ O’Connor found shot dead near Mallow

A woman in her 40s has been arrested in connection with the execution-style murder of Paul ‘Bosco’ O’Connor last week in North Cork.

Mr O’Connor, 56, was found dead on the banks of the River Blackwater at Ballyellis, on the outskirts of Mallow, at about 1.30pm on October 15.

He was from the Ballyphehane area of Cork city and had suffered gunshot wounds. He may have been shot at very close range.

The woman was arrested on Thursday and is being detained at a garda station in the Southern Region under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007.

She is the second person to be arrested in connection with the investigation.

A man in his 30s was arrested by gardaí on Monday evening and remains in custody.
