Ex-politicians should be ashamed

In the light of the strenuous recent denials by Messrs Ahern, Dempsey and Cullen, of any responsibility for the e-voting machines debacle which cost the taxpayer north of €55m, perhaps the saying that “success has a thousand fathers, while failure is an orphan” is apt?

Ex-politicians should be ashamed

Moreover, Mr Dempsey’s additional comment that he is now ‘a private citizen’ should also carry an additional comment — ‘a private citizen drawing a handsome pension paid by the taxpayers’.

If it was not so serious a waste of much needed public money (a ward or new wing to a hospital perhaps?) it would be amusing, however, their denials have the stamp of three schoolkids having been caught ‘offside’ in some manner or other pointing to each other when asked, ‘who did this?’

The three of them should be totally ashamed of themselves, which from past events is no doubt asking a little too much from these gentlemen.

Maybe they might do a ‘Mick Wallace’ and donate half of their State pensions as retribution for their folly?
