Hitting rock bottom

What has happened to a once proud country?

Hitting rock bottom

As a pensioner living in a rural area, I now live in fear as more and more Garda stations are closing down. Robberies and assaults against older people in their own homes continue to rise. Our hospitals’ A&E departments are at breaking point, as I discovered to my cost only 3 weeks ago, spending 59 hours on a trolley in Limerick’ Regional Hospital.

My heating allowance has been cut and heating oil has now reached 87 cent per litre from some suppliers. Now I discover that the Irish Army is flying around trying to catch me cutting turf to keep myself warm. Have we hit rock bottom as a compassionate race of people or have we further to fall? Does anyone in Leinster House care any more? If not, then heaven help us all.
