Pension tax a stealthy move
Many of them are now going to be worse off by up to €4,400 per year for a single person, or €8,800 per year for a couple, because they’ll now be paying tax on their pensions, which they worked hard for all their lives. Why don’t the Revenue Commissioners go after all the big tax evaders, instead of vulnerable and soft targets like the pensioners? Not that the pensioners will be a pushover, as they showed a few years ago when they resisted the Government’s attack on their medical cards.
