Rules of the road

MICHAEL Jobs (Letters, Jan 2) states that motorists are to blame for the deaths of pedestrians and cyclists on Irish roads.

Rules of the road

Of course, he ignores the fact that those people have a responsibility for their own safety and must obey the rules of the road like anyone else. That does not sit well with Mr Jobs’s views, but until he and pedestrians/cyclists accept this, deaths will occur. Roads are for commerce and transport, not for leisure pursuits.
